Holy Yoga in the Church

Greetings Pastors and Ministry Leaders,

What an exciting time to be a part of God’s Kingdom! We are privileged to witness God moving every single day and that is the reason we exist. The Holy Yoga experience is all about worship, praise, and intimate connection to Christ. Partnering with churches across the country has provided opportunities for people everywhere to deepen their relationship with Christ, the Word of God and to truly exercise their faith through Holy Yoga. We look forward to connecting with you, and hopefully serving your community with this very unique ministry.

Yoga and Christianity

As Discipleship

Currently, we have over 850 trained Holy Yoga instructors providing Christ-focused classes to more than 2,500 people worldwide. What these churches have found by bringing Holy Yoga into their communities is both a spiritual benefit for their congregations and an amazing outreach response from their communities. We have received countless testimonies from believers who have found themselves in a Holy Yoga class experiencing a deeper connection with God, and even rejuvenation of their faith walk like they haven’t experienced in years. By taking time to still their minds, focus their attention on Jesus, and offer themselves up to Him in worship, everyone from seekers to new believers to seasoned Christians connect with their Heavenly Father in a profound way.

As Outreach

It has been said that “what you win them with is what you win them to.” As such, we believe that Holy Yoga fits best as a part of your church’s outreach program because it will win people with and to a deep and powerful connection with Christ, focused on being centered on Him in all ways. They may be attracted by the yoga, but what they will get is a whole lot of Jesus. Holy Yoga is about facilitating communion with God by laying aside the stress and burdens that plague their minds, hearts and bodies every day. Classes begin by taking a moment to settle down both their mind and body as the instructor sets an intention with Scripture and prayer. This Scripture focus is woven into the postures of the class as they rely on the life-giving breath of God to move them through this active worship experience. It all culminates in a final resting posture in which the student can spend some time in quiet meditation and prayer in their private communion with the Lord.

I can't oversell the Holy Yoga community. It has been and is still crucial to my journey to wholeness in Christ. My weekly practice is a non-negotiable. It is a "tank-filler" so that I can be poured out as a pastor on a weekly basis. We're not talking about fufu, cheesy, soft and shallow teaching with easy yoga postures. I wouldn't be down for that. We're talking about a daily surrendering to God's will and way. A daily receiving and reviving with a depth to teaching the Word that I so need and value. And the community? These people don't let you isolate. They take you by the hand and say, "Nope, you're not staying here in shame and despair. We are going to Jesus together." And the postures? The yoga itself? It...is...hard! But it's where I have learned patience, faith in the waiting. Breathing into the sticky, difficult seasons of this faith walk with our Father. I wish every church could experience a practice in a regular church service! That's what this community means to me." - David Freeman Worship Artist and Pastor, Phoenix, AZ

As Experiential Worship

Holy Yoga is about experiential worship that provides an opportunity for believers to wholly connect with God. It is about loving God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30). Holy Yoga is no more about the yoga than worship music is about the music. It is a spiritual discipline that facilitates prayer and meditation and intimate worship of our Savior. We have not taken a secular practice and Christianized it. We have proclaimed that having an appropriate purpose in the practice of a discipline is what makes it holy or not. We don’t allow the misuse of prayer or meditation or God’s Word by other faiths to inhibit us from using them to further our relationship with our Savior; neither will we shrink away from practicing yoga as a part of our faith walk. We pray that you take advantage of the fact that God has brought you to this site at this time for a reason.
