“Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn't take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I've become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn't just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!” 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (MSG)
HY presents an amazing opportunity for followers of Jesus to share His love with the unchurched through a practice of yoga that worships Him.Fitness clubs, community centers, yoga studios, and other places where yoga has been traditionally taught are now becoming sanctuaries of His presence.
Holy Yoga is a ministry dedicated to facilitating the intentional practice of connecting our entire being--body, mind and spirit with God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God, in His goodness, never intended for Holy Yoga to stay just within the walls of the church, but has expanded our reach and given us space to bring this experiential worship to countless “unconventional” places. From Africa, Europe and India, to prisons, rehab facilities, and shelters for victims of domestic violence, there is, literally, no end to God’s grace. He has made that clear in the opportunities He has given to our Holy Yoga Instructors.
Holy Yoga is dedicated to ushering God’s redeemed into an active freedom--one where they know in their head, heart and body the freedom they have been given by the blood shed and the resurrection life of Jesus Christ. We are committed to utilizing whatever tools we have been given to bring healing and wholeness to those who have been victims of Human Trafficking. Currently, Holy Yoga is offering trauma training to people across the globe who are working with trafficking victims, as a way of showing them how to safely re-engage with their bodies after so many years of separating the emotional from the physical. God has already opened up so many doors for Holy Yoga International and we believe it is just the beginning. Below is a list of some of the ways Holy Yoga is currently being used to bring healing to those involved with Human Trafficking:
While Holy Yoga’s reach has become vast throughout the globe, it is also wide within the United States. We believe that the character of God is reflected in Holy Yoga in that all are welcome. There are no prerequisites to beginning your Holy Yoga practice--just a desire to know the fullness of Christ more and more. We desire to show every tribe, every tongue and every nation the fullness of Salvation in Christ, and we believe that God desires to use the vessel of Holy Yoga to achieve this. We are excited for the countless opportunities that He has already set into motion for Holy Yoga. The definition of outreach is, “the act of extending services and benefits to a wider section of the population, as in community work.” This is the very goal of Holy Yoga, to the glory of God.
HY gives the church an amazing opportunity to invite those who have long abandoned its pews to experience yoga with Jesus at the core. And as the love of Jesus is experienced, hearts are opened to an authentic relationship with Him.
“The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me. He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, Announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. God sent me to announce the year of his grace— a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies— and to comfort all who mourn, To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by God to display his glory. They’ll rebuild the old ruins, raise a new city out of the wreckage. They’ll start over on the ruined cities, take the rubble left behind and make it new.” -Isaiah 61:1-5
