Ongoing Training
At Adaptive Holy Yoga we believe that Jesus’ love is for everyone and that Holy Yoga is for everyone, despite any type of disability, injury, chronic illness or other special need.
Adaptive Holy Yoga training is designed for both certified yoga teachers and those who want to learn how to teach students with various physical, developmental or mental disabilities, illness, or other special needs. In this 20-hour program, trainees will learn about a range of disabling conditions and how to adapt poses and classes to meet students’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
Often in our society people with special needs are still considered the least of these. We are all created in God’s image and we are all created unique and special. God is the potter and we are the clay. He made us all perfect having our own uniqueness. Some people have blue eyes, brown eyes, some people can do this, some people can do that, some people are right handed, some are left handed. We were all made for a purpose, all His masterpieces. In Adaptive Holy Yoga, the spiritual focus, physical movement and breath work are all very healing and offer many benefits for this population. One of the main reasons my heart is drawn to teaching Adaptive Holy Yoga classes is because I believe that everyone deserves a place to belong. In typical yoga classes it is difficult for people with special needs to receive the supported instruction that they need to stay safe and be successful. Adaptive Holy Yoga classes offer that additional support as well as wonderful social opportunities. A time to come together with friends in community, supporting one another, laughing and having fun together!
