Power is a word we hear often in our everyday lives—whether in politics, social influence, or personal ambition. But how does the Bible define “power”? And how do the principles in Power vs. Force by David R. Hawkins align with or challenge the biblical understanding of power?
This blog post explores the biblical concept of power, comparing it to Hawkins’ distinction between power and force. Let’s dive into how the Bible defines true power and how these principles connect with the strength we find in God’s Word.
In Scripture, power is consistently linked to God’s strength, the Holy Spirit’s presence, and the ability to live according to God’s will. Here are key biblical concepts:
David R. Hawkins’ Power vs. Force contrasts two kinds of energy: power and force.
This resonates deeply with biblical teachings: while worldly power leads to oppression and destruction, God’s power is transformative, peaceful, and life-giving. It empowers us to overcome trials and live harmoniously with others.
As children of God, we are called to live and operate from a place of power—God’s power. This is essential to our identity as Christians. We are not meant to rely on worldly force, manipulation, or external strength. Instead, we are equipped to live by God’s Spirit and align with His will.
When we embrace God’s power, we are empowered to live authentically and love deeply. This is the power that helps us find victory in vulnerability, peace in the midst of conflict, and healing in brokenness.
In a world full of competing forces—cultural pressure, personal ambition, and adversity—the Bible calls us to choose God’s power over worldly force. Jesus showed us that true power comes from surrendering to God’s will, not asserting control over others.
Understanding and applying the difference between power and force is transformative. By operating in God’s power, we experience strength that surpasses any worldly force. This empowers us to live authentically, serve others selflessly, and walk confidently in God’s plan for our lives. We can move through life’s challenges with peace, purpose, and joy, because God’s power is at work within us.
