TrainingsFrequently Asked Questions
What is Holy Yoga?
MISSION STATEMENT – Holy Yoga® provides world-class programs where people experience a divine transformation and are equipped to live out the gospel in their everyday lives
VISION STATEMENT –Holy Yoga® seeks to establish Christ-centered wellness communities worldwide.
- Christ-Centeredness: Jesus is central to all that Holy Yoga® stands for and the reason we exist. In him alone we know who we are and who we are living for (Ephesians 1:11). While yoga philosophy is presented, Holy Yoga’s programs and teaching are based solely on the Word of God.
- Wellness: We are a community that loves Jesus and holistic wellness. Our world-class training programs are taught by highly-skilled and experienced instructors with broad fitness and wellness backgrounds.
- Community: Holy Yoga® Instructors are committed to holding space for communities across the globe where individuals walk with God and do life together. Holy Yoga exists to be a haven for a broken and hurting world.
- Living Beyond Ourselves: Our instructors are trained by Holy Yoga® and resourced by the Holy Yoga Foundation to spread the gospel, reach the nations, and bring healing and restoration through Christ.
STATEMENT OF FAITH – Holy Yoga® believes that there is only one God, who exists for all eternity in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God has revealed Himself to us both through His creation and Word, and continues to reveal Himself to His people through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We believe that there is only one way to God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, and that God made forgiveness and redemption available to all who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Also, that those who are His will be made known by their love for God and for all people. Finally, we stand on the Bible as absolute truth, being the divinely authored and authoritative Word of God and complete in its current canonical form.

STATEMENT OF PRACTICE –We know that yoga is a spiritual discipline much like fasting, meditation, and prayer that cannot be owned by one specific religion. While yoga predates Hinduism, Hindus were the first to give yoga a written structure. Yoga postures were originally named in Sanskrit. Holy Yoga® embraces the essential elements of yoga: breath work, meditation and physical postures. In all of these elements, Christ is the focus of our intention and worship.
Is Holy what makes the Holy Yoga Training Program unique?
Holy Yoga is different and unique in the way that we train our instructors. We know that anyone who becomes a part of Holy Yoga has already been pre-destined to be a part of the ministry and has a gift to share with us. We never want to miss the opportunity to see and learn from those gifts. In saying that, we base our training on the 1 Timothy way of teaching, where Paul exhorts Timothy to lead with his actions and in community rather than just in words. When you are a part of Holy Yoga, you are part of a community. We stand for connection, vertically and then horizontally. We train small groups of people. We want to know you personally, pray for you individually, and have the bandwidth to connect with you when you call one of us. One of the benefits of training this way is that regardless of where you are in the world, you have a community of people in your training pod that become your immediate community, friends and prayer team. You retreat with them as well, so after becoming friends at a distance, you get to connect with each other face to face. Following retreat, you have a larger community of people all over the world who are doing what you are doing at the same time, people who can identify with and encourage you as you go home to do the work God has called you to do.
How do I know I have been called to teach? Why Holy Yoga?
You know you have been called when you just cannot stop thinking about it. As much as you try to redirect your energy, you will feel drawn to it. That is called a God push or nudge. Yield to it. The fact that you are even reading this is an indicator that He is speaking to you! Holy Yoga was created to connect people to Christ. If God has a plan for you with Christian yoga, you will receive the very best yoga training by some of the very best instructors in the world, you are given the tools to facilitate your ministry. Holy Yoga stands for one thing, connecting people to Christ. We have developed the behind the scenes systems for you to do just that.
I live internationally. May I participate in Holy Yoga Global trainings?
Absolutely- we welcome international students!! The Holy Yoga Global family includes instructors from around the globe! All of our trainings are facilitated via live webinars through Zoom.
I’m a guy…can men register for the certification and teach Holy Yoga?
Absolutely! The Holy Yoga Men’s Ministry exists to shepherd, disciple, and train men for a unique Holy Yoga ministry in their communities. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What is the benefit of distance training?
When we started training instructors, we taught local instructors in person and long distance instructors via conference call. Over time, we discovered that the long distance program is a more powerful platform than in person training because instead of just showing up to learn on a Saturday, participants are required to really devote time to preparing for and participating in the webinars/calls. We always say that a good instructor will tell you what to do and a great instructor will tell you how it feels. By studying on your own, you are afforded the opportunity to pay attention to sensation and God’s quiet still voice while on your mat. The training lays all of the physical foundations and mechanics of understanding, from both a yoga perspective and a ministry facilitation perspective.
What happens during the weekly calls?
We spend 25-30 minutes of each call studying the Word together because it is the primary focus of the training and the experiential worship that comprises Holy Yoga. Studying the Word also teaches us how to meditate on God’s Word and how to weave the Word into Holy Yoga. The rest of the time will be spent discussing the study content for the week.
What if I have to miss a webinar, or if my schedule doesn’t allow me to attend the webinars live?
All of our webinars are recorded and posted within 24 hrs of the live event. Specialty students may watch the recordings and not attend live calls if their schedule does not allow or if there are extenuating circumstances.
All other requirements still must be met to complete and be certified in the training, including homework submissions, video session recordings, and quizzes required for content and accountability. For any training that includes small group calls, prayer calls, or life groups, the student must attend these aspects live because community is a crucial part of any yoga training or continued education experience.
Students watching the recordings only and not joining the live calls must check in with the instructor trainer bi-weekly to keep up to date on their training experience.
Can I deduct Holy Yoga training costs on my tax return?
In order to qualify for a school that provides a 1098T it must meet the following requirement. An eligible educational institution is a school offering higher education beyond high school. It is any college, university, trade school, or other post secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program run by the U.S. Department of Education. Holy Yoga Global is not eligible to participate in a student aid program run by the U.S. Department of Education.
What is the difference between the 200-hour and the 100-hour certification?
The 200-hour certification is the minimum requirement to be a Certified Holy Yoga instructor (C-HYI). This certification is for people who are not already registered yoga instructors. In contrast, the 100-hour training is for existing Registered Yoga Teachers who want to add the Holy Yoga designation to their offering. The 100-hour accreditation gives you the mark of C-HYI (Certified Holy Yoga Instructor). It bridges the gap biblically between classical and Christian yoga, and it educates you on the Holy Yoga philosophy, weaving the Word, and designing classes that inspire students and support biblical messaging.
When I obtain a specialty certification does it allow me to teach all types of yoga classes?
The specialty training ONLY certifies you to teach classes in the given modality of training.
What if I want to teach regular Holy Yoga classes?
Great! You would need to enroll in the Holy Yoga Instructor Training program to teach general classes. You can request more information about our instructor training program at holyyoga.net.
Can I be enrolled in both a specialty and the 200/100 Instructor Training Program?
We recommend that you do not take both programs at the same time. The 200/100 hour program is very intense and in depth, therefore we want to make sure you obtain the fullness of the program.
Is there any cost to maintain my specialty certification?
No. There is however an optional annual $129.00 Core Membership that allows you to use the name of Holy Yoga in your class name as well as other benefits. You can learn more about Core Membership here.
Is there a maximum time in which I need to finish the self-study programs?
Although a student would ideally complete their respective program within 3-6 months, there is not a maximum time to complete your self-study program.
Can I get Continuing Education credits for taking this class?
All specialty programs provide continuing education credits towards the 100/200-Hour Holy Yoga Instructor Training CEC requirements. Most of our instructors are also recognized by Yoga Alliance as E-RYTs and continuing education providers, which means you will be able to apply those credits to Yoga Alliance. Please refer to the individual informational packet to find out how many credits apply to Yoga Alliance.
What are the continuing education credit (CEC) requirements?
The Holy Yoga Global Continuing Education Program was created to facilitate ongoing growth in serving the Lord and His flock through Holy Yoga Global for our 200/100 hour Instructor Training Programs. To maintain the highest level of integrity, Certified Holy Yoga Instructors (C-HYI 200/100hr) are expected to consistently grow in intimacy with Christ through prayer, a knowledge of God through scripture, and the furthering of their yoga education.
The Holy Yoga Global Continuing Education Program has two (2) intended purposes:

- To provide Holy Yoga Global with an understanding of which instructors are continuing to teach in their areas
